2001 Ram Heat/AC Selector Switch

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Off Road. I recently noticed that the AC compressor cycles on/off when the Heat/AC selector switch is in the Dash/Floor position (but it shouldn't). The compressor doesn't cycle when the selector switch is in the Floor only, or Dash only positions (which it shouldn't). The compressor does cycle when the switch is in the AC or Def. positions (as it should). Since the Dash/Floor position is next to the AC position, it seems to me that the switch is shorting somehow (dust, or dirt maybe?).

Question: Has anyone else had this problem? I want to remove the switch to clean it, but could use some advice on how to remove the dash.

If you're talking about the Defrost/Floor position: My 2001 Manual reads " Air blows through the floor outlets and the outlets at the base of the windshield and the A/C may be on". This is verbatim from my 2001 Owners Manual. The A/C helps clear condensation from my personal experience.

But, no, the position I'm talking about is the first position past the AC position on the selector switch. It routes the air to the dash vents as well as the floor vents.

Those are the ones jrmcx is refering to "dash and floor", page 111 in the 2001 owners manual "Air blows through the outlets located in the instrument panel and those located on the floor and the A/C may be on."
