if i figured out a way to fit a superchareger on my stealth NA dohc would a eaton M90 work off a thuderbird or would it boost too much for my 10:1 pistons or will like 5 or 6 psi work with upgraded fuel system and exhaust. Also how much do you think it would add horsepowerwise. i also have a automatic transmission would it handle the extra power with a tranny cooler? i have read the faq thing but everyone says you have to put lower compression pistons in but they cost too much is it possible to boost safley with a stock engine?

No, not safely..that's why you're supposed to lower the compression before you boost, because it's not safe otherwise....i'm sure it'll work for a week or so though. If I were in your situation and could do it, i'd try it...I don't think 5 psi would blow anything up...but im not gonna say it's safe to do.

So wrong. Plenty of people run 10psi on 10:1 3s's. A few run 13psi with minor alky injection. Its all about tuning and fuel. 5-6 psi would be a cake walk withstock tt 360 injectors

TO SAFELY boost a NA motor u should use tt compresion pistons and a better fuel system!

All i knwo is boost on stock engine is a no no...
we put a Supercharger on a ls1 transam pushing 10psi and a week later BOOM!
we threw a rod...
so think twice before doing it...
It might work but then theres a great chance it wont...

Its done SAFELY on 10:1 ALL the time. Go look at the FWD Forced Induction section on 3si. And about boosting a LS1 most supercharger kits for it are designed to coincide with the higher compression. Either someone put on a much too small pulley or something else happened to cause it to throw a rod.

I think the disagreement here is due to knowledge of tuning...yes you can run 10psi daily if you know how to monitor and tune your car safely...for a beginer, you really don't want to push past 5-6psi. Lower compression pistons would help raise the margin of error.

You mean lower.

Yeah, however the saying goes...I meant that lower compression pistons give you a larger 'safety threshold' and don't put you so close to the brink of potential disaster (if not tuned properly)

is there no need to lower the compression on the ls1 and lt1 with a supercharger?

so what you guys think it would do horsepower wise

If youd manage to make it work then you would look at about 280 hp at the crank with 6 psi.

old and good, the supercharger kits made for those applications are designed to work with the higher compression.

And for those of talking about wanting to change the pistons to lower the compression on your 3s so you could run higher boost, you would be much much further ahead just to drop a TT motor in. Buying the pistons plus tearing down your motor to install them would end up costing you as much as or more than just purchasing a used short block and swapping it.
