rsx tpyeS vs 2002 wrx

well i was wondering about this race i was in a not to long ago but yeah anyways my uncle's rsx has about 260 not at the wheel but some of its internals are worked on and has a couple more simple mods, i think 2.5inch straight pipe cat back and cold air intake... but this one night another uncle, my cousin, and me took my uncle's rsx to go pick up my buddy and have some fun well when getting on the highway to go bring to car back with my buddy's bro following us in his wrx we see a wrx the same year with a kit and front mount intercooler. it wasnt a sti but it looked pretty ruthless but we kept looking at to see who it was so the driver thought we wanted to race so it lined up with us and we all new wat was gonna happen so my uncle shifted down to 4th and we took off at about the same time. the crazy thing is we took off on it we were about 2 cars ahead of it which was strange but the my uncle shifted 6000rpms which is to early cuz the car is able to rev up to 9000rpms. so the ivtec barely got a chance to kick and thats when it started to come back but we were still walkin it until he clutched we lost by about a car length. but yeah i was wondering why we were able to walk with cuz if im rite that car should have over 300 horses with that front mount intercooler and im pretty sure it had more mods but yeah... just wanted to let everyone know about my uncle's lost...lol

sorry everyone... im just wondering should an rsx take the lead on a highway against a wrx...

a stock rsx or a 260hp rsx?? i would say a 260hp rsx-s would take a wrx on the highway, a stock wrx at least. the rsx won't have to worry about traction once it's moving.

also i doubt you could get 260hp from just some internals and an intake and exhaust on the rsx.

Maybe the wrx wasn't flooring it?

If it was a stock WRX non STi, you should have won, if it was an STi, he should have won.

But base models WRXs can be made as fast as STis. Do you know if the other guy was stock?

1/4, it should be a close race vs a base model WRX. But I'm wondering where he got the 260 hp at the crank from because those mods would probably put it at around 230-240 at the most.

type S, a stock WRX with a damn good driver can hit 14.1-14.0 however they only trap at 93mph which is what a stock RSX type S traps at. so from a highway they are very close. i still find this weird though cause a WRX with a front mount intercooler are usually no joke and are usually 12 second cars. maybe hes still running the stock turbo.

I know, a stock RSX with bolt ons can hit low 14s and with a Hondata ECU high 13s.

So, with bolt ons, it's a driver's race in the 1/4 but the RSX should take it on the highway. Stock for stock, it the WRX should take it and the 1/4 and it should be a close one on the highway with the RSX inching away the faster the race goes.

With the mods he listed, the RSX should have beaten a stock WRX on the highway, but it would get murdered by an STi.

wellmy uncle's rsx has a toda stage 1 engine kit i believe and a couple more stuff... i saw his track paper and it said 260whp or somethin around there i cant remember but yeah... the wrx wasnt a sTi or else i wouldnt even bother with this post but the front mount intercooler just scaried me... i dont know the guy so im not sure wat he has under the hood but yeah... only saw the front mount intercooler... and sorry for postin this on the wrong page i was just tryin to put it in detail but thanx for movin it Neutrino...

I agree, plain stock WRXs can run low 14s.

3of9 didn't you say it was 260 at the crank and now it's at the wheels? If it's at the wheels, then the RSX-S should even beat an STi from a roll. If your uncle has 260 whp, he should have easily taken a stock WRX.

Im pretty sure the Subbie has up graded "turbo pipings", plus the FMIC, which im guessing should bring the Subbie up to a close 280 hp, but on the highway, its an 280 hp Wrx (drivetrain loss) goin against a 260 hp RSX. My money is goin to the Rsx...2of9...

which kicks in first, significant amount of drivetrain loss or rev limiter?

hopefully this early spring, we'll try to get a vid of the RSX Type-S goin against a 91 3000GT VR4. That "VR4 vs 260 hp Rsx" thread has already been made, so go find it. We'll also try to get in a vid of the RSX goin against a Subbi. Thats all for rite now. Peace.

fierango...... sorry to stray off-topic here, every time i see your fiero in your sig it reminds me of this law student who was doing an internship where i used to work.... he was always trying to impress a female coworker talking about how his dad gave him this ferrari. he talked it up for over a month and finally told us he was bringing it to work. when he pulled up the next day had had this huge shit eating grin on his face like he was so proud of this "ferrari" when he asked me what i thought i busted up laughing. after like 5 minutes of laughing my ass off and my side started cramping i told him it wasnt a ferrari, it was a FIERO!!!!!!!
