Sleeper Vtec on carbs?

I thought i'd run this idea past u guys to see what feed back/info i can get, If i can't find the info I'm lookin for I'll go ahead regardless and document what i find!

I'm wanting to build me an engine using the following parts, D14A1 Block, 1.6 D series crank, rods & pistons, 1.6 sohc Vtec head with 1.4 non vtec rocker cover, D14A1 dual carb inlet manifold mated to Keihin dual carbs from a B20A4 or A3 prelude or from a D16Z6 concerto. Will this work? what variant of the 1.6 sohc internals will give me the correct compresion ratio?

From what I've read on the net I need to remove the Oil jet from the 1.4 block as its alredy mounted in the Vtec head, Use the Head Gasket & T/belt thats matched to the head, 1.6 vtec oil pump, wire in a vtec contoler, can any one solidly confirm this info? Anything else I need to do?

I'm not sure what the Vtec will be like as there won't be any fuel and ignition map change, just cam change! I rekon It will sound mental through the carbs though! once I'm finished, to look at the engine u should see what appears to be a normal 1.4 dual carb but is really a 1.6 Vtec that will still be stamped D14!

Reasons-I have been banned for 1 year(plenty time to research,fund & build an engine) & when I get my licence back need an insurance frendly fast car. My mate owns a 1.3 Swift GTi and we have a little bet, I need to make my 1.4 beat his 1.3 without (visualy) changing capacity(I'm gona cheat) :twisted:

i dont think tis possible, carbed engines dont have computers and you need a computer for vtec to kick in...

Instead of a carberator(s) why not get individual throttle bodies instead?

hilikus funk-U don't need an ecu to activate the Vtec, theres another way to do it!

civicspoon-throttle bodies would be a costly conversion & would need modified to fit/run & would be an obvious mod visualy. Carbs should fit quite easily and won't look any differant from a stock 1.4 dual carbed engine(I'm goin for sleeper), Carbs should be easily sourced from a breakers yard!

Can't you just get a beefy cam instead of messing with vtec?

Well I thought bout just installing a cam but decided I wanted to here the Vtec through a pair of carbs. I think if i can get it running it will give good power using stock honda parts, if so i cud then start port/polishing the engine, tuning the carbs etc. Alot of the reason is that I want to do somthing differant & old hondas parts are easily/cheaply sourced from breakers in the Uk!

That ZC with the dual downdrafts in the wagon looks like the header goes through the radiator or is nonexistent... weird...

ditto...that looked weird
