2000 CEL Code P0403-EGR Solenoid circuit

Dear all Chrysler Minivan Owners

I have just purchased a used 2000 Dodge GCaravan for almost a month but recently the CEL light was on. From all the post suggestions I took it to my friendly Autozone store and they scanned a P0403 code (EGR solenoid circuit). Has anyone experience this before? Or should I just go ahead and replace the EGR valve? Or is there anything more than that? I really appreciate all your responses

The EGR in itself is probably fine, it's either the solenoid or the wiring associated with it. Easiest way to check is to look at the electrical connector going to the EGR valve solenoid. If it's pitted or corroded, clean it up and plug it back in to see if that helps.

thanks

I'll check it today....but when it comes to electrical connectors and solenoid...it means big bucks....rather than a 60 dollar EGR valve...

I have a 2000 TC with the same code... I had it reset twice... stays off for about a month then goes back on... have not checked the connector, but will also (Thanks!)

Well,

Basically what I did, like Freaknasty82 suggested, was to jiggle the connector a bit, and voila, the light turn off once to restart my car again. I am suspecting a corroded or loose connector that attached to the solenoid. Yes, you are right, it's a intermittent problem,'cause the CEL light went off about 2 weeks ago then went out mysterously.

But I have a real tough time trying to disconnect the connector. It just dosent' disconnect no matter how hard I try. I 'll try to spray some WD40 on it, wait couple of day to let the solvent saturate into the connector, and do another attempt again. Once disconnected, i'll try to put some di-electric grease on it.

I hate OBDII....hate it , hate it , hate it

I have the same problem, could you tell me when the EGR valve solenoid connector is located, I'd like to give it a try, to see if it will go off.

Thanks.

I had the same problem with my 1998. I replaced the EGR valve, only to later find that the wires to the connector on the solenoid had corroded about 8 in from the connector. I re soldered now wire form that pouint on and it has been fine since (2 years).

So have a look at the wires first, you will have to remove soem of the plastic insulation with surrouns the wires but if i remeber the Insulation on the wires is covered with the plasic tubing as initial insulation.

My question is, where on my 2000 Grand Caravan with a 3.8L engine, is the EGR valve solenoid located?

Thanks

Serge

Did you fix the problem with your EGR Solinoid wiring. I just found out that I have the same problem with my 2000 Caravan.

So did you find where the EGR Solenoid circuit is located.
I have a 200 Voyager and I guess I have the similar problem.
Is it associated with limp mode /transmission probelm too.

Please let me know where to find the EGR Solenoid circuit or send a webpage link for the same.

I finally took it to the Dodge dealer. They said it needs a new Speed Sensor and a Tranny servicing. Costed me $450. Its doing fine now.
