hey there fellaz....is it mandatory for me to get a bypass valve for a cai??...and also..would it be a good idea to get a heat shield...and I've also heard that its good to get splash guards when you get a cai...wat does that have to do wit the intake??

no it's not mandatory to get a bypass valve but if you live in a place where when it rains there are huge ass puddles you have to drive through then it is a good idea.
A heat shield is a good idea, but it's not going to help that much.
Your car has splash guards, it's the plastic that lines the underside of your car and in your fender wells.

Get the bypass. If your CAI sucks in water, your engine will be destroyed.

It really depends on where you live, i have had my CAI on my car for over 2 years and I dont have a bypass and i have never had a problem with it. A CAI doesnt go down as far as you think, the chances of it being submersed(sp?) in water are slim to none, but if it makes you sleep better at night why not get one.

well, something I learned was that the filter doesn't even need to be completely submerged.
My dumbass friend was able to suck in enough water to bend two rods by nailing it through this big ass puddle when the roads were flooded. He has a stock intake too.
You just gotta be smart and not open up the throttle if you have to drive through a big puddle.
