Rebuilt Tranny Question??

I'm now in the process of getting prices for a rebuilt. I did try the suggestions from all, at least I gave it to the mechanic to do but still with tranny problems. I now have a couple of different quotes and one guy asked if I wanted to update the valve body, front pump, heavy duty torque converter. It would cost another $300 to do this. What does this mean???? Do I really need to update this stuff? Shouldn't it be included as part of the rebuilt???? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, "96 S10 Blazer, tranny is 4L60-E
Thanks, Maria

He said $1500 for a complete rebuilt stock and said for the $300 xtra he will update the other. Do I need to add the other??
I also spoke with another guy who quoted me $1300 and he told me that the update is part of rebuilding the tranny. Why I'm not bringing it to him is that he is 1 1/2 hours away from where I live.
