Hey guys! Its been like 8 months now and my eclipse still won't start. So now my problem is my Spark plugs isn't make much spark. It will make like 1 or 2 spark and thats about it, but it should keep sparking if it was normal. So anyone know how i can fix this? we changed the coils and plugs and still no spark. By the way my motor is a 420a.

Did you change the plug wires too? The plugs wont just keep sparking when you are trying to start it, they go off of the crank sensor... For it to spark 1-2 times that should be enough to kick it over to where it wants to start.

Did you make sure fuel was getting into the cylinders?

Did you make sure you have good compression?

Just some things that I'd check if your car isnt starting. Then if everything else is good but you still have no spark you might want to test the computer or try and swap a computer out with another RS/GS.

yeah man i bought 3 computers.... but it won't work on my car. So my dad called up a guy that had a 96GS we tried all 3 computers on there and it all worked. so now it can't be the computer. it's kinda getting to a point to where it wants to start now... but it doesn't go all the way. Befor it just cranks... but now its actually wnats to start. but yeah new spark plugs n wires. man its been like ever scince july man haha. you have any other ideas?

o yeah it has fuel and everything. but you think my dad did something wrong when he changed out the oil pump? he said after he got it installed he poped the hood open to spray down the engine with hot water, but he forgot to turn the engine off. so what do you think?

he might have fucked the coil when spraying it with water, i don't know exactly how but that's really the only thing it could be, unless you don't have any compression which coudl be from your timing being off.

check the coil and if it's bad, replace it

There are no wires on the oil pump. The oil pump would also have no affect on the spark. You failed to mention the engine bay was sprayed, I'd check the coil pack, then if that doesnt work check each and every connection, fuse, and relay to make sure they are all good.

Ok guys.... the problem is finally solved. It was the damn oil pump the whole time. When my dad installed the new oil pump he didn't know that the oil pump wasn't working still. So after all this time we thought it was like the electricals and never thought that it can be the oil pump because we just changed it. I just found this out today Im so happy now. Now lets hope my car will stay running today. Ill keep ya updated. Thank you all for trying to help me. =)

what did the oil pump have anything to do with the spark? how did you fix it? i'm interested now

ok... when we installed the "first" new oil pump... im guessing it didnt want to work or what ever... so my dad said the engine got a sensor for the oil to see if its going to the head.. well the sensor didnt pick up any oil so that infomation was sent to the ECU to cause it not to start. So basically they ECU had a sensor for the oil to see if its getting to the head... so if that sensor isnt sensing any oil to the head the ECU will automatically shut down the engine causing it just to crank. Thats some sh!t huh. =\ I didnt know the ECU will do that and cause the engine not to start if its not getting any oil. So now im going to finish up the car and ill update you to see how it goes.
