98 ford ranger speedometer not working

Hey folks,

I have a 98 ford ranger xlt. The speedometer quit working. Don't know much about cars/trucks. Where to go from here? I've also noticed my gas usage is up considerably and am not driving any more than I usually do. Is this related to a the faulty speedometer? Please advise.

About the only thing you can do without getting too technical is to check the fuse for the speedo. It will be located in the fuse box on the left side of the dash in between door and dash assembly. Consult your owners manual for the exact number and loaction of it. Otherwise it will probably require shop service...Joe

i have a 99 ranger 4x4 3.0 when i bought it the speedo was not working but i took it to a tranny place they replaced the speedo sensor and it has been working for about 6 months w/o any problems.
