I have a '95 S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L "W" engine. It has the distributor cap with the side mount terminals.
I had a misfire in cylinder #5. Changed plug and ran fine. Thought I would change all plugs this weekend and the spark plug wires. Now it runs terrible. Shakes and no accelaeration. Don't know if I mixed up wires on distributor? No check engine light, yet.
What is the sequence around the distributor?
1-3-5 on drivers side and 2-4-6 & coil on passenger side.
I thought it was (going clockwise) 2-4-6-coil-1-5-3
What is the correct spark plug gap?
I've seen .045 and .060 mentioned. I used .045
Replaced plugs with AC Delco CR43TSM, same as originals.
Spark plug wire set Federal brand (only one in stock at 4 local stores)

spark plug gap should be on your fan shroud, if not it should be .045
Engine cylinders as follows.
6 5
4 3
2 1
The cap will be marked with the proper numbers.

That is the wiring from the Chilton's repair manual.

whoa whoa whoa....back the truck up there.
You are saying that you know more than what the manual says?

No of course not....just see pictures/pages that are different than the actual service manual for my year. i.e. spark plug gap .60 in the service manual .45 in chilton.
I think sometimes the cross multiple year things screws up these DIYmanuals as they try to be all things to all people over 5 years.
I have chilton 94-99 s-10 and see that #1 is on drivers side front, you show your's at the middle. where the infamous #3 plug is. The one that's a bitch to get out because of the steering....
My 99 #1 is up front and #3 is in your #1...if that makes any sense.
My sources for information besides the quick reference of chilton / haynes is online AllDataDIY (on line version of the service manuals / bulletins) and I bought the service manuals from Helmic....
So don't get yourself in a bundle, I get frustrated with in consistent information when it comes to these kinds of things...nothing to do with be smarter than anything or anyone.....
Capiche?

true, but with the small mistakes, it is still a great source of information for the back yard mechanic.
I don't know what I would do without mine.

A guy in the s10 forum just swore the temperature sending units on the 96 and up were oil pressure switches because his Chilton Book told him so.

Yep doesn't surprise me at all...but we must take a look at various sources, and NOT totally trust the chiltons, haynes...or any manual.
They try to cover too much in a single volume and make too many generalizations...
So BlazerLT...you don't have the same problem as everyone else with the number #3 plug right in the way of the steering column on your 95 blazer ? There are sure alot of folks that have commented on that plug removal (#3) as being a real pain in the ass.

I have found several mistakes in my Haynes manual as well.
A chevy service manual costs me two hundred dollars for repairs because it contained the wrong torque specs for the lower balljoints on my Impala.

Sorry to hear that....guess we are stuck using our heads and multiple sources....that's why I rely on this forum too....
I have found a few mistakes in positional things in my helmic manuals but have been 100 times better than haynes/ chilton...anyway...
all good discussion.....

I never stated anything about the #3 plug?
Where is that coming from all of a sudden?

...never mind...never said you did...just that a whole lot of 4.3L out there before and after it seems 95 have the #3 plug in the position that you quoted from chiltons diagram is your #1.
I will drop the whole thing....never mind

My image is indeed correct for 1995 Vin W and 1996+ 4.3L engines.
1 and 3 are swapped for the 1994 and 1995 Vin Z engines.

I believe the issue wasn't the firing order, but that the picture shows #1 cylinder to be in the center of engine rather then the front where it should be.

:grinno:
I can not comment on 95 but my 99 has #1 and #3 reversed on your diagram. ...and I too have a "W" engine. Don't take my word for call a service tech.....
...and then I will accept your appology...

I just checked the Haynes manual, it is saying what you are saying.
This is friggin confusing.
