Alternator brace

awhile back i noticed my alternator would vibrate pretty bad, so i put it on my Fix-it list. So finally getting around to it today I looked underneath the alternator and noticed a brace. The end above the oil filter i only see a hole. The other side has threads from a bolt sticking out of it, so is it safe to assume the bolt did break off? Or am i not looking at it right?
