Incorrect Purge Flow

I been having some trouble with my 96 GP 3.4L. The problem has me confused since it doesnt seem to happen under a certain set of specific circumstances. The engine will always crank without a problem but will not always start right away. When it does start(after 5 or so seconds of cranking), the RPMs will surge to 2 or 3K and then the engine will quickly die. Sometimes it will exhibit the similar symtoms just in a different order (i.e. starts quick but then dies). Eventually, after a few tries, it will start and stay running. Other times, it will not do any of this. My SES light is on and stays on. I had the guys at AutoZone plug in their computer and it displayed an 'incorrect purge flow' trouble code. I have a feeling it's a vacuum leak somewhere...maybe a faulty vacuum line or a bad gasket. It could also be a fuel system fault. However, I have no idea where to begin looking for the problem.
Any Ideas?????
Thanks for the help

Sounds like it could be something with your idle air control (IAC) motor. It could have a leak somewhere in the system for that.
