Help I have a Mazda

I bought a used 1994 Mazda B3000 4x4 Automatic approximately two years ago off the second owner. I love my truck …….. BUT
At the time of purchase, there were a number of problems with the vehicle:
1. A substantial lack of power.
2. Unsatisfactory fuel consumption.
3. The engine was surging.
Progressively, all three problems became worse and I decided it was time to address them.

DAY ONE @ Penney Mazda

I brought my vehicle to Penney Mazda after conducting a series of tests the tech checked the computer, the EGR valve, the mass airflow, and the throttle position sensor. The technician did a vacuum test and he put grease on the contacts of the plug wires and did a fuel pressure test 30-35 of pressure. In the end, he removed the exhaust and took the vehicle for a run, during the run he acknowledged that the truck should have more power than what was available. It was impossible to do 100km/h. While they were looking into the vehicle, I brought to the attention of the technician the fact that the tack was jumping when the motor was under a load, but according to him my accessories were “kicking in” and this was the cause of the problem, I assured him it was not.

DAY TWO @ Penney Mazda (10days later)
Before the next service was due, I took the vehicle on the highway and took a video of the tack jumping for three hours straight. I showed the video next time I brought the truck into Penney Mazda. Their hesitated reaction was to conduct a number of electrical tests. At this time the technician found that it was not advancing on its timing suspected by a bad ground. After the advancing problem was fixed and it was advancing to 30 degrees, we took the vehicle for another drive but the problem was still present and not fixed. The technicians all stood around with a confused look and started throwing random scenarios into the discussion of what was wrong with my Mazda. It was suggested by one of technicians that the trouble might be caused by the exhaust being plugged. At that point, I was quite frustrated with the lack of progress and I was willing to try anything to solve any of the three problems. I asked them whether they were certain that the problem was caused because of a plugged exhaust and since they appeared quite sure, I allowed them to proceed. They cut off the second catalytic converters and drove a bar down through them. Then we took the vehicle for another run and we realized that not only the surging had not been fixed but also in addition to the three pre-existing problems (lack of power, fuel consumption and surging), the truck was now considerably noisier.

I feel Penney Mazda has treated me extremely poorly. The attitude of the technician and the rest of the staff were unprofessional and insulting. I have no confidence in their ability to deal with any of the problems with my vehicle (or any other vehicle for that matter). On the contrary it appears to me that the Mazda technicians did not have the knowledge or training to diagnose and fix these problems. I hold them totally responsible for creating additional problems. They should have been aware of the potential disadvantages from removing the catalytic converters.
