hey everyone, ive been reading up a lot on the Srt4's and VW GTI 1.8t's.
I know the srt4 has a better 0-60 time then the 1.8t, but the vw has a nicer interior and decent reputation for reliability [from what i've heard, i may be wrong]. i dont want to start a comparison among the 2 cars, each of them worth around 21k, but i was wondering what everyone thinks the better overall car would be, as far as everything goes. [accel, reliability, tunability, fun to drive, gas mileage... etc...]. thanks for your input i appreciate it a lot.

hey have no idea the stats on vw's, but srt4's damn good warrantee, and dealer backed upgrades.

and major sleeper factor....no one believes in neons.....i say neons because unless you know what an srt4 is thats all you know to call it.=D

the GTI does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds which isnt bad for a 1.8L FWD turbo and supposedely handles very well on the twisties, now that i think about it, the warranty and dealer upgrades appeal a lot more to me, and the gti doesnt seem sporty enough, thanks for the input. i'll be picking up an 05 srt-4 once i can sell my altima lol

you made the right choice. please tell me how 0-60 in 6.5 is good in any car? that is slow!!! the sartie will out accelarate, and outbrake the gti no question asked. plus it has 4 doors, so you can put people in the back if need be.

I love the GTI body style, but they're SOOO expensive to modify for performance. I ran a 13.4 with a wastegate, BOV, and boost controller at 14-15psi vs. a GTI on drag radials and a LOT of cash invested that ran a 13.4. There's a small group of turbo-VW lovers around this area and most of them are slow and have problems breaking into the low 13's. The ones that are fast have a shit-load of mods done - I'd rather drop $4k on a turbo/fuel upgrade with related parts and bust into the 11's.

Im agaisnt calling the SRT-4 a neon, *not to be sour* i know maybe they "resemble" each other, but from suspension to engine-there is a major difference. I would go for the SRT4 ~power, looks, sport, etc~ cant be beat good post!
