Birthday Cake is Nasty

My b-day was yesterday (please no comments, I hate birthdays :banghead:), but none of us were able to get together until today. So I'm eating cake right now, and I realized how nasty this stuff is. They load this crap up with like a 3-1 frosting to cake ratio. Now back when I was a fat little bastard I'd eat this stuff like nothing, but now that I'm older I'm lucky if I can get thru an entire piece without gagging. Even the ice cream cakes that you can buy are still loaded with frosting. Anyone else have an opinion on birthday cakes and/or frosting?

when the cake is bad, add lots of icecream. even if its an icecream cake.

cakes do tend to be nasty :thumbsdow

there is a cake out there that they make where the icing isn't as rich, it's very light almost like moouse. That is tolerable.

thats why you bake you own... if you don't like it as sweet, don't add as much sugar and/or frosting...

Yeah, cake is pretty nasty. I'm diabetic now so I can't eat cake anyway. My wife has half a chocolate b-day cake over in her office. If some of the other people in this place had access to the cake, it would've been gone Friday afternoon. I've always been skinny but now I have like 0% body fat because of my reduced sugar intake. I love it.

It was mine, and you missed it by a month. Now if you don't mind I'm going to sit in the corner & sob quietly to myself...

homemade cake is good. homemade frosting is good.

the kind you get at the stores' bakeries are the nasty kind. way too much frosting like you said. just when you think the inch of frosting will make you gag, you get to a frosting flower--a 2 inch heaping mound of rainbow colored floral nastiness. i just scrape it all off. ick.

my birthday is in less than a month! Cake is alright, i always liked icecream more though. I barely get cake anymore bc of the frosting and the cake part bc i just dont like the taste anymore. But i eat it sometimes.
