What do you guys do?

I need a new job. I'm eighteen years old. I make $6.50/hr as an assistant manager at a restaraunt now. I have grown to hate customer service after a series of customer service jobs. I really need more money too. I'm gonna be joining the Navy in a few months so its temporary. I just want to get my car running 8-9psi daily with no problems before I leave. I can't really show any mechanics what I know considering I don't have a degree. Any ideas here are apprecieated. But I digress.

So as the question says, what do you do? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Im 16 and i make 6.20/hr at Sears. w00t! ummm I wouldnt join the navy army or marines or air force...ever. To me thats 2-4 years without my 240. But hey thats me.

im 19..will be 20 in march though. I work with my dad during the day monday - thursday. 7:30 am till 6 pm. For 8 dollars an hour. Then on friday's i work with my uncle at the chevy dealership doing bodywork. From 8:00 am till 5:00 pm. Kind of like an assistant as im not hired by the dealership im hired by him. i used to work ther full time but i got on at my dads work. So thats like 50 bux on fridays i make cash. Plus i get discounts on parts and can use there tools, lifts, and frame rack to work on my own shit lol so its a good deal. Then i have night school so i can stay up on that college crap. So i work by day and school it by night. I make like 320 a week. Not the best but not the worst either for still going to school. 48 hours a week isnt bad, then 4 credit hours of school...sux. Im always tired. AFter this summer though ill be fulltime college student again. im just working up until the next fall semester so i can get my ka-t project rolling along the lines. I figure ill make about 8 thousand by next fall...thats with my insurance payment already deducted. So i should be rolling pretty good with that much green into my engine. Plus i ride with my dad to work and my uncle on fridays....so i spend no money on gas either. Except for on the occasional weekend. I dunno we'll see how far along i get.

I make 7.65 an hour which is the minimum wage here, I work at Canadian Tire in the sports department 1-2 nights a week, enough for spending money....I wanna get another job, like at a movie theater.

i work construction for 14.50 and hour...shitty job..but then again im joining the military too...Army...and i dont get where you see it to be 4 years without your car...they ship it where ever you go...cept iraq or afgan...but thats a duh...anywho...free college and housing...thats what sold me...

btw..since we were posting our age...im 20..turning 21 in july...woo hoo!!!

17 in march...for me...I didnt know they would ship your car for you dang! ummm...hoping to work this 8.50/hr(40hour) over summer and like 6.2/hr(25hour) too...then I can have my rims and 5-Spd tranny and something else before summers end...w00t!

yea i decided with my 3200 tax return and 1500 for selling my celica im going to get some tein He coilovers, Profec B type S, Apexi SAFC, Kaaz 2 way, whiteline sway bars, some strut bars (front and back) and hopefully a gt9871r turbo...for got to add..also sellingmy rims and stereo for another 1500...nice to sell shit...sorry to jack the thread...had to vent my happiness...

I am 20 and I make $16 an hour sitting in a cube and surfing the internet half the time, and working with mortgage loan the other half. This winter I didn't get taxed :iceslolan

im 21 yrs old. i WAS a warehouse manager for a media distributor until i got laid off last friday. That was an awesome job. Id rather go to prison than back into the service industry. that crap is for high school kids and ive paid my dues.

as for advice, the shipping and recieving industry can pay well depending on where you live. courier jobs are good part time money. or just whore yourself out on the street corner. thats got me through some hard times.

Im 17 and i work at ACME as a cashier... i hate grocery stores now, and will forever... but i make 7.50 an hour and am about to be at 8.00 in a month... its hardly enuff to pay off my car and my girl... gonna look for another job so i can hopefully put some money into my car...



AIR FORCE is the way to go... when i get out of HS thats where im headed... its probably the safest of the military routes, and if i actually get to fly planes, i think i could live with out my car for a bit

ill be 20 in like 5 days i work 8 months a yr on the beach setting up beach chairs and umbrellas. my pay fluctuates but i make anywhere from 500 to 1200 a week it all depends on how busy it is. peak of summer im rollin in the money. i wish i didnt drink so much or id have a lot more to put towards my car.

And if you want to fly a plane in the AF then you need a degree...i checked on that...i would love to fly...you can fly a helicopter in the army with a fliers recommendation ;P

im gettin my degree... i want to be an officer, but skippin the whole academy, my not lookin to go thru hell for college... my dads a retired officer to which will give me a one up once im there... I guess i just like the air force more b/c of my dad... hes a pilot now and its just wat i grew up around... i live like 10 miles from Ft. Dix/ Mc Guire base so i talk to a lot of Army and Air Force people at work... i just really want to fly planes..

well for at least two months of this upcomming summer, i might be going to BC to do tree planting.. i know it sounds really nature-boy-teh-ghey but its probably some of the hardest work to do but pays extremely well.. you get paid a certain amount of cents per tree (anywhere from 9-35) and some people plant 4000 per day.. so its basically real labour but you're getting paid a ton.. i've heard of some guy taking $10,000CDN home in a month cause he was a workhorse.. i plan on taking about $8000 home in 7 weeks.. i think that is a realistic goal for me.. i'd strongly suggest that if you like doing hard physical labour and like being outside in the mountains then go out west and tree plant.

well you don't get hooked up unless you know someone who's been doing it for a few years.. basically i applied on the internet.. i googled 'bc tree planting' and the first page gave some websites.. so i'll hear back from some of them hopefully by next week..

Im not very social. I would like to find some labor work and add on to the 2500$ i already have saved for my car when i get one.....

Hey everyone I'm a little late on this thread but I'm 21 and I'm in Cell Phone Sales making $8.00/hr. plus commission. If it wasn't for the commission my job would really suck. And plus with a girlfriend it's really only like $5.00 with no commission of actual income. Hey not to be nosey but do any of you guys have girls? And if so: where do you find girls that aren't gonna bitch cuz u wanna buy something for your ride??!!!!???

BTW Logik: Personally anyone could do my job....i got into costruction and worked with my dad...he got me the job he has, as a concrete saw operator...basically i run a 1500lb saw with 26" blades...thats why i make some much...otherwise normal construction workers make 11.94 here...

then on saturday i aslo work at a tile store that to is 8.50.. but saturdays are killer 12hr shift with the two jobs, no time to hang out.. o0o well it will be worth when i get my silvia.. im paciently wating...

lol man i feel the pain here. I went out with my old gal and didnt take her out on 1 single date in four yes four months because i had to buy coil-overs. She finally dumped my poor ass and now im finding myself trying to hook back up, because she was the awesomest gal iv ever been with. I hate tuff decisions. The prob is i NEEDED the coils because my springs were cut and the shit was horrible. I didnt want to settle for springs etc. Coils are just a better buy. Are you guys crazy? Me? Girlfriend? no way. Chicks really don't dig car geeks. At least not around here. The last girl I was talking to wierded out on me when I started trying to teach her about cars. She said she wanted to learn about them so she could avoid dealership service fees and such. So I kept trying to teach her, but she just was incapable of learning. IDK. I'm not a very good teacher, but watching is not hard. I even called a problem she was having with her car. EGR was malfunctioning. So she pays $400 to get it fixed. Duh??? Not my type.

And driftking, I feel sorry for myself as well. I put my car together on $5.25/hr, then $6.00/hr/ and now $6.50/hr. I think I'm gonna try getting on as a DSL installer or networking. Something with computers so I don't really have to do too much customer service bullshit. I hate customer service.

But I get a 20% discount on most parts & the rest is usually free. :)

Lol, cart attendant and cahier. Same as me! I started working on the floor until I got fired for tardiness...it was really stupid...my new job's better, though. It's busier, but it's better pay and better hours.

nissanfanatic, i quickly learned that the hottest girls won't care about cars unless they get attention from being around them. i gave up on showing girlfriends how cars are.. most of them are helpless.. i just keep my car to myself and she doesn't ask.. that way i can have two relationships without he accusing me of cheating.. she could care less about my car

In the summer I frame Houses makeing 10.50/hr :grinno: so that gets me by pretty good. BTW I don't know what its like in other cities but here in Lethbridge Alberta Canada anyone can get into the kind job I do you simply have to head down to your local frame/Construction company etc etc and apply for a job. you don't need a degree or anythnig unless you want to start operating the heavy machienery or doing special jobs. Theres always plenty of Jobs that they are willnig to hire people for that have no degree I'm only 17 I hade no hook up and I got the job. Just try it head down and ask, dosent hurt to ask. You may get stuck doing the "bitch jobs" for a bit but its worth it I did that all last summer but they said I would get a promotion at the start of this summer so yah :smile:

I had this girl ride in my car. She was a "Mustangs are fast, ricers are slow" influenced person. Well when she got in my car, I slowly pulled out onto the road. We went down a somewhat windy road that she always tries to outrun me on. She usually makes it to about 50mph before she feels uncomfortable in her Plymouth breeze :gay: .
