I have a 91 Jetta automatic and am in the process of trying to remove the starter. I have removed the heat shield and the three bolts connecting to the starter to the bell housing. From what I can see the starter has to come out from below but I can't get it past the right axle. I have removed the six mounting bolts for the inner cv joint and thought I could just drop the inner joint.
Do I have to also take off the right front hub and the rt ball joint to completely remove the axle or can the rt inner just slide down enough to make clearance to remove the starter?
Thx
