Why is football just for men

Why are all the players in the nfl men? I'm watching the superbowl pregame show, and I was just wondering... Is it against the rules or are there no women good enough to play in the nfl

I meant this as a serious question, not a big football fan. I know that football is in general a more manly sport, but that didn't satisfy my question

Switch your tv on and watch the game. Then try to imagine a woman playing with these animals.

It's not hard to imagine a big woman going out there and kicking butt. I am watching the game

Women are not as strong or fast as men. That's the simple answer. I don't know if there is such a thing, but a womens' NFL team would mop the floor with me and my friends - that's if we knew how to play american football. But these aren't normal-sized guys you're looking at.

probably if a female wanted it badly enough she could find a way... but there are plenty of other leagues and sports where they are already satisfied... but yeah these are massive people, and not many females can equal their size.. and if a female can equal their size it usualy has disgusting results.

Okay folks, don't hate me for my comments, but...
While I believe in equal rights/participation for women in sports, there are just some sports that are way to dangerous for women. Even if you did find a woman willing to go up against a bunch of 800 pound gorillas, I will still feel pain watching her get clobbered by a guy in the football field.
American Football, boxing and Hockey should not be played by women in my view. Its just too dangerous. Any other sport, sure.

I agree with TS... Youve got guys in the NFL 6'6" 300+ pounds. There may be a couple women on Earth that could compete in the league, but not enough that it's worth it to spend the time trying to recruit women. And besides that, just like twospirits said, even if they are capable of playing, I wouldnt want to see a female get the occasional clobbering like all NFL players do. Not many people do want to see that.

About women in hockey... surely you arent talking about the NHL? I won't believe that until somebody else backs it up.

Baseball, Basketball, yes, Boxing, Football (US) and Hockey, No. But thats just me.

I meant about there being 2 female goalies in hockey. I agree there should not be women in the rinks with the male players. They are too violent. I definitely would not like to see a woman catch a high stick to the forehead, or get checked into a wall and fall unconscious.

hmmm I really did not know that there was two female goalies in hockey. Heck if they want to subject themselves to bodily harm let them. I guess it makes sense though. Like the saying goes, Nothing gets past a women.

I could care less about women playing in a man's league. Stop whining about women can play sports just as good as men when they ask for their own seperate league too...

There have been girls to play football. Not in the NFL, but i believe one or two girls played on the junior high football team where i attended. There was also a girl place kicker or punter who played for the University of Colorado, i believe, but she ended up suing or claiming sexual harassment or something. What the hells the big deal and who really cares? If women really wanna play then start a female leauge. It will be just as exciting  as the WNBA. And they will still have to give away tickets for people to attend.

The chick at CU got her ass kicked in practice, then ended up suing for sexual harassment.

I mean, having played football, its always more fun to go after the weaker guys, tackling drills and stuff. You can hit em harder. And how many girls would be burly enough to play at the same level as the guys? And thats just high school ball. Now think about pro...

We did have one chick at my school join the wrestling team though...

I can think of many women who play Rugby (Far more manly of a sport than football, pads and helmets = :gay: )

I say a movie gets made about a Woman in an ethnic minority who dreams of NFL glory, "a sequel to Bend it like Beckham." No clue to a name as I don't know the NFL's over-rated equivalent of Beckham is.....

Would you like to see your wife's neck dislocated by three 400lb men?

...Didn't think so.

(Not that it would be any better to see a guy's neck dislocated by three 400lb men; but thats besides the point)

What I'm trying to say is, there is likely nothing keeping women from playing in the NFL. If women really wanted to play in the NFL, then they'd be out there on the field right now. Question is...do they really want to play? Obviously not, since there aren't any women out there. I would also reckon that the women who do want to play just want to get out on the field so they can file for sexual harassment the second they get tackled.

It sticks to the fatc, women just aren't big enoug and fast enough and not those two variables seperately but together. They're not build for being muscular and having speed at the sametime. Sure, if there is awomen like that, let her play...but aren't steroids illegal in the NFL?

as a high school wrestling coach, this is what i have to say..

really, girls can compete with guys before they really start to grow. women's body's mature faster, making the girls better at weights like 103 or 112 pounds. But once they start yo get up to around 130 pounds, the boys are generally built better. making them stronger and usually faster.

*when i was in high school, i wrestled 135 pounds, and was rather big at that weight.. i had to wrestle a girl one time, and i threw her in a lateral drop for any of you guys that know enough about wrestling to know what im talking about.. its not a fun move.. especially when you throw it right, on a girl thats charging in trying to make a statement.. she landed hard and seperated 2 of her ribs from her sternum.. was carted off to the hospital and i got a BOO from the crowd.. really, do they expect us to treat women like women in a tough sport? because if so i dont understand what women have to prove if we need to tailor our sports to fit them and then take it easy on them...

 Because there's no money in womens sports. Name all the womens sports you see on TV now where they are fully clothed.

Men hunt / fight / compete. Women stay / cook / look good / sex0r

Caveman theory.

I say that if there's a 6'6" 350lb woman that runs a 4.4 40 and wants to play professional football, I'm not going to stand in her way.

However, I agree: hooray for boobies

However, I agree:
The chance that someone 6'6" and weighs 350lbs, be it man or woman would be next to impossible. If someone can prove me wrong please do, i just dont see it being physically possible.

when i was in high school there were some girls that brought there parents to the school because they wanted to play football. the coach told them if they could make it through 3 a days they could suit up. well, he wasnt really fair because they were the scout team RB,s and starting linebacker positions were open to the 3 guys who made the 3 girls quit.....i made a good running back that year.

there were some girls that wrestled all through school and were really good until high school when guys are just naturally stronger.
