Well i just started this one last night. It is the 1:24 scale model from Fujimi. The molding was shocking, but then again it was very cheap.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/3321/203672fuj04002box.jpg

I decided that if it was going to be a racer like it is supposed to be i better get the weight down, so i wanted to take some trim out. This looked like a lot of hassle so i made a new interior instead from sheet styrene. The old interior is in the background.
If the door panels look a bit weird it is because i decided to make them very minimal with a wire door handle like in the F40.
Colour will probably be met. blue and i was thinking of doing an undercoat of green and try and get that to show through a thin layer of met. blue.
The wheels are ENKEI RP-F1s.

Hey btw, what do you mean the molding was shocking?

I mean that i was shocked at how badly it was molded. Two lines all the way from the front to back and in the middle on the roof it wasn't lined up properly.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Hmm, I have this kit ant the molds seemed very good for the price. But then again, it seems thas some of fujimi's kits are very good and some are like crap... every kit seems to be a little different.

Thats cool, with the new interior and all, why don't you get a Revel B16, and pop it in there. I'm insenuating that it is curbside?

It is curbside yes. I was going to make it rear engine, rear wheel drive by using the chassis of an old Hasegawa Lancia Stratos, but i got a headache thinking how to do it and if it was worth it. I could always stick an Enzo engine in the back. That is the only spare engine i have. But that would be crazy......wouldn't it? :evillol:

Maybe the mold slipped or something when they were making mine :sly: It was a really big off set. About 1mm. And in some places the mold lines were about 0.5mm high.

The worst 2 areas are in red rings. Maybe not that easy to see in the pic after i have sanded a little.

A bit of an update of the interior. Sprayed the inside with Testors "chrome", seats and dash with Tamiya S-G black and the roll cage, which i scratch built today, sprayed with Tamiya gun-metal.

I know it doesn't look like much but it is progress, so here is the underside. I haven't painted the engine because it is all molded in one piece and i can't get into those little gaps. It would just look a big mess.

Even more progress. After getting the wheels sorted i jus tcouldn't resist putting it all together to see how it was getting on. I have lowered the back end a tiny bit, but not touched the front. Maybe it could do with a little more lowering, but i think it looks quite alright.
Also something i didn't mention before was that i cut out the grill at the front and i'm going to put some mesh in instead.

that thing is coming along nicely. one comment though is i think you need to lower the ride height a bit, it's just too high IMO. over all it looks promising!

Nice! The Interior is lovely! That Testors chrome looks suprisingly good! Kit doesn't seem to be THAT bad, you should've seen my Fujimi S14 :disappoin As of the ride height, i'd say SLAMMMMMMMMMMMM it! So low that the wheel wells rub:lol: BTW: thats what i use as a reference for my ride height (wheel well) If it touches the wheel well then the height is perfect for me:lol: Another way to make this car seem lower with these wheels, is to try on the Revell Tires on it. I did it with my set of RP-F1's and check out how they came out. Ofcourse i had to chop the tires up. The tire to the left of the wheels is the Fujimi tire that was provided.

Thanks for the suggestion ImolaEK. I decided to use the RP-F1 wheels with the tyres that came in the CR-X kit. I think they are a bit more sporty.
I prefer not to slam my rides, because if you do that you have to have tow-in in a big way or have them too far into the body. I am taking them as close to the wheel arch as i dare while still being in the wheel arch. If you know what i mean. :eek7:

Sweet! I see what you mean. It really is true. The only way to have your wheels stick out a bit and really low is with some negative camber. I like how the CRX tyres look on it:) I just tried the ITR stock tires on these wheels and they also looked pretty darn good! Thumbsup for stock tyres:) Hope to see more! Have you decided the color yet?

So are you doing a B16?

Tikiman
02-09-2005, 08:25 AM
So are you doing a B16?

Huh?! :uhoh: What's that? An engine type?

And yes i think these stock tyres look much better than the one s that came with the wheels.

mrceej
02-09-2005, 09:18 AM
Yeah, to be accurate, the CRX was offered with the B16A in the SiR trim level. You can pick one of the Revell Civic models up and convert the engine bay to fit the CRX (Both the Revell Civic Coupe and Hatchback have the B16A engine, or if you like, the Revell Integra Type R has the B18C in it but it looks the same as the B16A).

Tikiman
02-09-2005, 09:49 AM
That is a very interesting idea. Isn't there a bit of a problem that all those Revell kits are 1:25 scale?
I think for this particilar model i will leave it engine-less and maybe think of doing one wit h an engine another time. Thanks for the idea.

I dunno its your model but that thing would llok so bad ass with a B18C5 with a pretty header, a straight shot exhaust, a Front mount CAI, Skkunk 2 intake, and a nice strut bar. What are you doing with the suspension? IMO you should do Tein Coilovers

I decided to start with this green colour and then paint over with TS-54 in the hopes that the green will come through a little bit. So it's a bit of an experiment. Maybe it won't show through at all, i don't know.

looking sweet, i hope the color combo works, hey might i ask what you are going to use the tint the rear hatch window?

That is a damn good question. I hadn't even thought about that what with my painting drama. The paint wouldn't stick to the edges of the shape on the bonnet/hood so i tried to just paint some on with a brush thinking it would stick better. It didn't, but what it did do is stick out so i sanded and tried polishing so as not to take off too much paint. Then when i sprayed again the paint didn't stick too well so i took all the paint off the hood and have now painted again with better results. Now i just need to light sand and spray only a little more green. Then i can do the blue.
I shall investigate the tint question today.

THe green is TS-22 by the way Robrex.

Tikiman
02-13-2005, 11:51 AM
Here is the final colour. It is TS-54 (light metallic blue) over a base coat of TS-22 (light green). Just a clear coat and polish and it is done.
