ok i have a 96 eagle talon esi with few motor mods..but i understand that i won't be able to get the car as fast as i want without puting 4-5 k into the motor....so imm gonna sell the car and start driving my 98 vw passat gls 1.8 turbo ok my ? is should i take my $ and invest it into the passat or stick with my slow esi. i know everyone here loves theses cars but my funds are limited and i think i could produce more power out of th vw turbo. let me know all of oyur opinions.......thanks

If you want a fast car, you know the GSX is the way to go. Passats are really nice, and you can find parts for less than at a dealership, but it will cost more. However, passats are really really really nice for sure.

by selling both of them you could easliy get a gsx and make that fucker fast as hell. i mean, yeah pasatts are nice and all and it's a turbo which could be fast, but the gsx will overrule it anyways, looks and performace.

if you dont have the money for a AWD or even a FWD dsm, keep the Turbo VW... Turbo FWD > N/A FWD...

I have a 5.9 liter Cummins turbo diesel that dissagrees with you. And there are others with the same motor runing 11s in 7000 pound trucks. I would change the equation to read:
Diesels (note the spelling) = sometimes slow/usually slow/occassionally slow/mostly slow/etc.
i think we all get your point, but stating such absolutes almost invariably makes the author look like an ass. :)

i have to aggree with kevin. Diesels might be "factory" slow but you can make those things (especially big cummins, powerstrokes, and durmax) into outright beast. I remember when my brother first got his camaro we went out. We started laughing when this dodge dually pulled up next to us reving and inching up ready to go. Then we got left in a thick cloud of black smoke.. lol
But if I had to pick from a Esi or a Passat I would stick with the passat for now but id leave it stock. Then you can start saving your money for that gsx down the road. peace
