Has anyone ever heard of putting in a slave cd player in place of the cassette player?

Cant really say i know what a "slave" cd player is i think its some kind of kenwood or something. Uhh, and if your wondering if you can put a cd deck in where the cassete player is thats correct... and the fact that your vehicle is a 94 should be in the C/K forums.

A "Slave" is a seperate cd player only, and my truck isnt a C/K, its a SILVERADO.

If you're referring to the tape player beneath the A/C controls inthe bottom of the dash, yes you can swap it out wiht a slave CD player found in the later model silverados. Not sure if all of the controls will work the same, but I do know they'll hook up.
This is the same dash layout as the 96-98 silvy's right?

Dash is different from the 95 on Silvs. The 94 & older have the tape player in the center of the dash under the A/C vents. Im wandering if there is a seperatte CD player that I can swap out with that tape player. Or if I have to go to a CD changer.

I know you know your truck and all, but my buddy use to have a '94 GMC and it didnt have that set up. It had the radio controls below the A/C controls, and the center of the dash was the eq and tape player. He swapped it out with a Kenwood cd player. Another one of my friend currently has a 95 and it has the tape player, and a/c controls in the center of the dash. It was 95+ that had this.

no you have a c/k truck that has the silverado package ... 99 and newer are just called silverado's .... as far as the slave cd player ... no it will not work in your truck unless you can come up with a 95-98 head unit and fit it into your dash which will take alot of cutting and modifing sense your radio more square ... not as long as the newer radios .... and then you can put the slave cd player where you tape deck is with some more modifing and prolly going to have to make a plate seeing how the slave cd player is smaller than your tape/eq setup in the middle of the dash

yeah, you can put one in, Ive got a '93 silverado and put one in a while back, the new cd player goes where your old cassette player was, you just gotta buy the dash panel kit and wire harness (they will probably even have directions for installation)
