I want to put 17''x7'' wheels on my 1997 VW Golf GTi 2.0.
I have a couple of questions regarding these wheels.
First it seems that the most common tires that fit these wheels are 205/40R17.
Also i seen some deals with 215/'something' R17 tires. Is it true that tires of both these widths (205mm and 215mm) fit on 7'' wide wheel.
If so it seems that the 205mm tires will fit on my car, but will the 215mm wide tires fit without spacers.
Thank you in advance.

Putting 215 is bad because then the sidewall will flex due to the larger tire on the smaller rim and will wear faster. Also will give less road feel and worse handling. Unless your going to use your gti as a drift car.
Just go with the 205/40r/17
