Hello,

I just found the Revell Premium BMW 850i on Dutch auction site.
The kit is made in 1990, the seller charges 20 euros for it...

He says its very detailed, is this true?
And do you think I should buy it?

Best regards,
Koen

i'm not sure how much 20 euros is, but any BMW is worth purchasing :iceslolan

I think I've seen this kit on the same website ;)

A price around 20 euro (aprox. $26) is IMO absolutely not overpriced.
As it's a Premium kit it contains probably around 200 parts. I think it's worth it, as i have built this kit 10 years ago. You don't see this kit that often anymore.

I think it's roughly the same price as it was 15 years ago.

(Also this kit has been reboxed by Tamiya, so it must be quite a good Revell kit --> see recent thread)

Hi,

years ago I build some kits of the Revell Premium Serie for customers:

BMW 850 i, BMW 635 CSi and Mercedes SEC.

When you look into the kitbox you have the impression of seeing a Fujimi Enthusiast Model.

However, to make all parts fit you must work very hard and the wheels coming with these kits, are far too small.

...unfortunatelly typical faults for model cars of the Revell Germany AG, not only true for the "Premium" Kits but also for the BMW Z8 ...

Then I maybe should not buy it...

I'm not very expirienced (I've only done Supra and Revell Mini before), so I might mess the BMW up when I attempt to build it.

But well, if I would buy it, where should I buy aftermarket rims?

Don't pass this one this is one of the best Revell kits ever, you will have some work with fiting front hood and front pop out lights but it is not so much work. Buy it, you won't regret, specialy at that price.

This is one of Revell's best series of kits. I have this kit and it boasts a full engine, opening rear trunk, etc. Just to show how good it is, Tamiya reboxed it to sell in Japan! Now that's a compliment!

It may be a little rough around the edges (i.e. flash, etc), but with a little work, it will look great. It will also improve your modelling skills if you are new to this game.

Okay, thank you all very much for responding!

I should be able to make the hood and the lights fit I think...
However Sportracer mentioned that the wheels were too small.
What should I do about this? Buy other ones somewhere?

Wheels do look kind of small but I would disregard that, they fit just fine. You could replace them but I wouldn't recomand, this is the kit that should be built out of box and you will enjoy it that way.
