Looking to replace my OEM running boards, but how?

The new running boads come with either rocker panel mount hardware or frame mount hardware. How do I know how the ones I have now are installed? I have a 2003 4Runner with factory running boards. I was looking to go to the tubular running boads as the OEM seem to collect every speck of dirt and mud which seems to keep getting on my pants when I get in. Are these running boards hard to get off? Is it dificult to put new ones on?

I replaced my factory boards with Westin Oval Tube Steps (black) and it looks much better. I got them at qualitybumper.com

Wherever you get the boards, get a "frame" mounting kit for each side (brackets and bolts), usually sold separately.

Each side of the 03 4runner has three mounting brackets with several bolts each. Just un-screw them from the frame and remove the whole thing.

The mounting kit should come with instructions but if not, it's straight-forward. Just put the new brackets in the same spots with new bolts and hand tighten until all brackets are on. Then mount the steps and slide forward or backward as necessary.

Lastly, tighten each bolt a little at a time (like lug-nuts). Don't over-tighten.

Thanks for the reply. I saw that people were looking but no one responding. I will have to look into that site. I have a grey Runner and was thinking about gettting the charcoal tube bars. I didn't think they were hard to install but I had no idea what "rocker panels" even are. I will let you know what happens. I just can't stand all the dirt and crap that gets caught in them.
