Need some help with dvd/reciever

Hey guys, I just went out and bought some optical cables for my dvd player..

I plugged it into my optical out, in the dvd player.. then into the optical in #1, into the reciever.. and im getting no sound.

Anyone have a some experience with this that wouldnt mind helping me out.. my AIM screen name is

you might have to setup the sound source from the on-screen menu stating you want the sound through the optical port and not through your main drivers.
