My 1998 Bravada's "service all wheel drive" light is on, and I know for certain is not working properly. The "shift motor" on the transfer cases electrical plug is leaking oil into the plug causing a very oily connection and is probably shorting out the system.
They have a retty convenient failure system built into that motor, when a seal fails in the motor, the have it drain into the plug so the system no longer works. There are two small holes just below the male contacts in the plug housing, so the oil drains right into the electrical conection, thus causing the need to buy a new motor. And they are expensive!
Does anyone know where you can order one of these motors without going to a dealer?
Sincerely,
Reinman
