Body roll/99 328i

I just bought a 1999 328i with less than 40,000 on it. It's in great shape, but my son noticed that it had too much body roll for what we thought a BMW should have. It's not noticeable in normal driving, but even at 40 mph, turning the steering wheel side-to-side rapidly results in a lot of body roll. It has good tires, all less than 10,000 on them. Any thoughts? Thanks.

get some new suspension...that lowers it about 3/4 of an inch...and what size wheels r they? 16"? go with a 18"....that should help that problem alot

Thanks... 16" wheels is what I have. I'll look into the suspension idea.

Bilstein HD Front struts and Lowering Performance Springs work wonders. I sleep in my 325i-Convrtbl. now!:licka:

I agree with Klugemeister (good German word!!) Lower it and stiffen it (progressively so the ride isn't harsh) and you will like it.

:2cents: Lowering, Stiffening and adding larger rims will all but eliminate body roll, however.. newer and (slightly)wider (Not Taller) shoes need to be in place in order to complete performance requirements in the s's. Increasing rim size actually decreases tire(wall) size, thus decreasing "flex" in the tire wall. Goodyear F1's are ideal for these applications, however, they are directional tires and can only be rotated on the same side (provided that the sizes are the same, front and rear). Discount Tire has an awesome deal going on with F1's Right now. Goodyear had a large abundance of these that weren't selling very well (probably because of the cost). It would be advantagious for anyone wanting to upgrage in the shoe Dept.:wink: Guten Tag
