Blindside demonstrates the one-eyed stupidity of the compulsive Republican beautifully. America may be stifled by a two party system, but over here it doesn't neccesarily follow that if you are not a neocon you are automatically a democrat. Given a crappy electoral system such as yours, I'd vote Democrat simply to deny one fuckwit right-winger his vote, but in a civilised election,I'd vote for neither..
Which begs the question....If the Republicans are so hell-bent on installing democracy at gunpoint in Iraq, why did they not install the US version?
2 candidates, take it or leave it?

Just wondering ut considering that the US is the oldest democracy in the worlld (yes I know its a republic, however republics have elections for representatives) then how can you call it crappy. Don't fix what isnt broken.
And also how does youre second point relate to your first at all Naki?

Yeah, its not like all those major parties in New Zealand like the Labour and National.... Wait, they have almost 10% in the New Zealand First Party. Cool. The first two are as similar as the dems and pubs here and the third reads about the same as the libertarian party and has about as many state seats, but WE are the ones stifled by a two party system.

Please teach us with proof as to how the US is the oldest democracy in the world when the Greeks were doing it 2000 years ago.

Deals have to be done with the smaller parties to form coalition governments.
This means that during the term of a government, it is possible to call for a vote of no confidence (usually by the opposition parties) in parliament to test the resolve of the coalition.
This also makes it possible to change governments mid-term.

You have to be kidding. Have you been reading the trash your counter part has written about others in his post??
This is clearly not a democracy.
And please don't bother posting that lame "moderators rules" thing again. I have read it and I'm not impressed.

Correct. The Greeks were the first people to impliment democracy, they also did it without a government too I do believe, but I'm not sure on that one, someone wanna check that?

He claimed the oldest democracy which is not the same as saying the first democracy. Not only that, if people consider casting votes as a democracy, then its probably been going on for ten thousand years.
The US has been a representative democracy since its foundation in 1783 (when the constitution was ratified). The oldest by universal sufferage is New Zealand sometime around 1893.

You're right, it's not a democracy. Igor is the only person who has a say in how AF is run and how the rules are administered, he chooses who administers them.
Heep- Nice analogy there! I'd certainly take a Ferrari F430 over an 1886 Benz......

.
I see the new rule didn't last long. This forum is as good as the moderators let it be. They help to guide it and shape it into something worth while or something worthless. Some choose to hold it up to a certain standards worthy of a forum this size and others choose to drag it down to their level. The later is the reason I seldom post in this part of the forum any longer. Now I will retreat to the other reigons of this forum that I still feel are worth my time and to another forum I recently had the good fortune to stumble across . Lead by example.
Later.
