Quick question on brake pad shims

This is a question for an ABS disk brake pad application.
I recently installed new ceramic brake pads. The ceramic pads I purchased had a metal shim type piece tacked onto the backside. My question is, do I need to install the original metal shims from my stock brake caliper on the backside of these pads even if they already have a similar such thing tacked onto it? Thanks

newer pads i've installed on my 91 accord didin't come with shims and my pads work fine..i would use the shims that came with the pads cuz those are the ones meant to use with it.
