Today i was fumbling around in my engine compartment and the pulled 2 wires that the haynes manual calls the "coolant temperature switch(A/C)". It's the sensor that comes out from the thermostat housing and points towards the passenger side headlight. I don't have my air conditioning hooked up anymore, so do i need this?

see if your temp gauge still works.

One is for the temp guage, the important one however is the one for the ECU. I do believe 1Gs had a third one for the AC system, but I can't say for sure. If you have a logger you can easily find which one is for the ECU, or perhaps that book will help.

the gauge works, and the one for the ECU is still connected. without the other one connected i noticed nothing different. the cooling fan still came on without it. i jumped the 2 wires to the sensor and noticed no change. so i guess i don't need it sincei dont use my A/C
