What do people use to pain the interior dash and side paddings of their car a different color? And the engine hoses...do they just get a dressup kit or do they paint the hoses too?

The painting you should ask in the detail section under cars in general...they will have the best advice for that.
As far as engine dress ups, typically the hoses and stuff are either bought in that color or wrapped with colored plastic.

Dude I will come to your house and smack the paint can out of your hand lol....get the engine dress up kit, but painting interior drops your car's value so much, unless it's done professionally and coated with fiberglass or w/e they use. I'd recommend you buy a carbon fiber interior dress up kit or something like that.

Using tastless trim especially inside the cabin looks horrible, painting the dash is tasteless in every manifestation I have seen to date. Its like painting your car puke green... tasteless. If you want anything to look good the best apraoch is to use colors subtly.

LOL Alright guys, point taken. I didn't know painting the interior will reduce the value of your car...gotta think about that a bit more then. :p

Well most people want a stock car, performance mods cna hurt the value of the car. Like.. If looking at a car on autotrader and it all looked good cept somone had a N02 setup I'd pass it up.

I wouldn't be totally discouraged from the idea. Just remember to keep it reasonable. I'm going to probably paint a couple of things since the shine has gone out of them. Also, I would discourage you about buying a cf dress up kit. The only ones that I have seen are vinyls and using vinyls is much worse than painting your interior.

Yeah, I probably won't be painting the whole interior but will probably paint certain areas/pieces. It's just that my interior is gray (the dashboards and stuff) so it doesn't really match with stuff....I think... Wish it was black... :o/

If you paint these things, I will be forced to come over and repaint them the original color:

1: Door handles
2: Speaker Covers (behind the speaker covers is okay but not the outside)
3. Air vents

As for a CF kit, aren't there some that aren't just vinyl?

CF is usually expensive since its usually done by hand and little things like that would be hard to mass produce and look good if done by hand, just get some metal vents and such if your not gonna leave it stock. Metal can look good especially against black.

Hehe, it also depends on how much of a project you want to make this. You could take out the interior and paint it all black and then put it all back in. It would be best if you had someone that was very experienced with spray paint doing it though. I know that when I paint stuff I always seem to do it unevenly but maybe I am just less coordinated than others in this area. You also have to find the proper paint for the material or your results will be less than satisfactory (most likely some sort of enamel paint will do the job).

Yeah I was gonna say that...the polished aluminum (or brushed), or silver/chrome would be good on black/grey.

the best thing to do when changing the color of the vinyl in ur car is to use vinyl dye instead of painting it. ive heard from a guy in the detailing section that SEM dyes worked best for him. most dyes are like $20 a can :( but never fiberglass a dash. it will crack like crazy. only do this if u have a show car thats only for shows.
