oxygen sensors

i get code 1213 from the "check engine" light (740iL 1995), which seems to be "secondary oygen sensors". My questions are:
- how many are there (1 or 2)?
- are they different from the primary (except for the location) so that i have to pay attention when i buy them?
- can i change them myself?
