my transmission gets kinda rough and sometimes even grinds especially in the low gears when its cold out. i really really hate it, and i was wonderin what i could do to make it smooth again! i got my synthetic oil in about 1-2 months ago, and they said the transmission fluid was good.. they also said my cv boots were good.. now they're torn open...
could it be the clutch? cuz i put it right to the floor, but changing from first to second especially is rough just moving the stick into it (but then its better when its warm out).. have you had this problem? it really bugs me cuz it makes rough noises and makes me look like i cant drive :frown:
what would you do? my brother works at the oil change, so im gonna be going there to get whatever i need done.

I bought a tranny off a guy that said it grinded between 1st and 2nd, I threw in some GM Synchromesh + Lucas Oil stabilizer and it has never grinded on me.

I have this same problem on my '94. Once I warm it up (aka beat on it a little) it runs smooth. But it doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it since the winter will end in a month or so anyways.

As these guys said, change the oil in yur tranny to honda or gm MTF. Also, make sure that your clutch is adjusted properly otherwise its not completely enguaging.

hey, I am assuming you are from canada too (looking at the KMS in your sig), I have the same problem, for the first 10 min or so when its really cold out (like -20 to -25 C)...I don't think it is a problem in the syncros, rather just they don't work well when cold, what I do, I find if I shift really slow going from first to second, it doesn't grind, just do that till it warms up......

awesome, thanks for all your help, after my boots get fixed then trans fluid will be next.. THEN back to the fun stuff, my lights and sub!!
o yea, and i have been trying to do the slow shift, and do it when im going really slow with low rpms, it usually works, thats a good tip though.
monday i get my boots done, so right after that i'll change the fluid, then i'll let you know if its better.
thanks again
