Need help with brakes!

I just put new pads/rotors up front and pads in back. When trying to reset the piston on each side it would not budge. the only way I could get it back in waswith sime vise grips. I peeled the rubber back on both pistons and there was some rust. The pins that are supposed to be greased were completely rust in place. I had to heat them up with a torch and hammer with a chisel to get them loose. I sanded those, greased and reinstalled. I got everything hooked back up, drove around the block...no problems. Drive about five miles to the store and I smell burning brakes. BOTH rear wheels were hotter than p!ss, meaning the brakes were probably red hot. Are my calipers shot? when I took each rear wheel off there was a decent glaze over both rotors and pads. wheels still turn by hand but there is drag on it.

hmmmm two scenerios

1) your calipers are frozen. but generally frozen calipers can't be pressed back in.

for our cars or all cars in general, for the rear calipers you need to turn the piston and press at hte same time. there is a special tool for that. if you managed to get the piston to twist back into the caliper, your caliper is fine.

2) your pins are fucked. guy new pins and clean out the holes that those pins goes into, its probrably filled with crud. then you grease those bad boys up, then try to slide them back and forth until it moves freely. ( mine doesn't move that freely cause mine also has rust on it, but atleast it still returns to its original position ).

When me and my dad changed the pads in my 240 we couldnt get the Piston to depress eaither we soon found out...they are screw in... which gives them their self-adjustability! Just take some channel locks and screw them back in...thats what i did...
