Anyone installed an aftermarket deck into their Bravada?
I've got the '99 with the 6 speaker setup, and I want to put my deck in it, but I can't find a wiring diagram for it anywhere...
Am I going to have to amp the back speakers to get them into the mix?
And do I have the right info:
Dash Speakers - 4"x6"
Front Doors - 6.5"
Rear Doors - 7"
I know I'll be losing the nifty steering wheel controls...but I've got a remote which will make it easier for flipping between MP3's.
I can't find the specs/wirings anywhere!

I'm not sure about the Bravada, but they're very similar to the Blazers, I replaced my speakers with 6.5" in the front and back doors. I didn't mess with the ones in the dash, Crutchfield.com shows them being 3.5".
As far as the wiring... do yourself a big favor and buy the wire harness ($8 at wal-mart) you just connect the color coded wires to your after market radio then it just plugs into your factory harness without modifying the vehicle.
The dash speakers share the front channels with the front door speakers, the back doors use the rear channels.

Great advice on the wiring Blazee!
Right after Christmas I see quite a few cars on the side of the road burned up at the dash area where Mom bought the young'un a new radio and the strip-n-tape method was used for connections.
Can you recommend some door speakers for playing Dark Metal type tunes?

I've got the wiring harness...just a matter of ripping out the factory deck and wiring mine in.
Just ripped out my interior lights and put blue ones in to match the deck...the dashboard is the next project!

Anyone know what size the dashboard bolt is? It's smaller than 5/16" but bigger than 1/4" I'm guessing it's metric. No clue.

I've seen the same thing.
As far as the door speakers (Dark metal... you mean slayer, obituary, sepultura...) I started with one of the combo packages from walmart, it came with a Pioneer CD head unit and 4 pioneer 6.5" speakers it sounded pretty good even before I added my amp and subs. (not much thump but very loud and clear.) If you are looking for a component system check out crutchfield.com.

Who was the geniuous that designed this dashboard!!??!! You have to take off the steering wheel panels to get to the bolts at the bottom of the dash plate. What a joke. I'm tempted to take it to Best Buy or somewhere and have them deal with it!

It's not that bad you just pull those two screws and pull it down just enough to get to the two screws in the dash panel, pull those two and the one in the speedo, then the rest just snaps out.

The dash panel screws aren't wanting to come out...Plus it was dark out when I was trying to do it. The blue interior lights I installed didn't help much either.

Dude first of all, do not take your car to one of those places, they do a sh*t job compared to anything that you can do if you just take your time, those guys change a radio in about 2o mins because the use power tools that just rip apart the dash board. The bolts are a pain in the ass but it is not dificult, and then the dash panel just snaps off.
Chris, i too am a hevay rock type of guy, and i could not be happier ith my infinity speakers, they really sound good for all the highs, like from a guitar solo.

Wow,
If you listen to metal, you gotta' like you real crisp highs, and real tight lows. I recently put in a pair of Eclipse 4"x6" in the dash, and added a pair of JL Audio 10w6's in a sealed box. Runnin them off a Cadence z1000 -400wRMS amp! Amazing. Near perfect sound for my taste at least. Next project is getting rid of my crappy Clarion deck and getting back into the Pioneer line-up.

About a year ago i put a Pioneer Premier deck (deh-p5550mp) into my bravada, a pair of infinity kappa 6.5 component speakers in the front, put the tweeters on the door instead of in the dash, it sounded better that way. and a pair of 6.5 infinity kappas in the back. Once you get the deck configured correctly its awesome. Nice clean sound with pleny of lows mids and highs. People ask me all the time what kind of subs i have. They think im lying when i tell them i dont have any. if you get a good deck and some good speakers it makes a world of difference
