Remove or disable the GPS on my 2004 GTP

Hello all, can somone please tell me how to remove or disable the onstar GPS tracking system on my 2004 grand prix competition. I dont like the idea of somone knowing my location at all times. I have been searching for this info and cant find anything about it. I figure since it is my car i shouldnt have to have it on there if i dont want it. Somone said to remove the fuse but i dont think it is that easy. It may turn onstar off but the gps is still active. Where is it and how do i get it off.

As someone who deals with the mobile resource management industry on a daily basis, I can tell you this: If someone wants to track you, they will, and you won't know it.

With that said, the service provider is not legally allowed to resolve your position without express permission; that is a defined violation of personal privacy. When you call to OnStar for assistance with navigation or other such aid, that's your opt-in. Now, keeping that in mind, the provider *is* allowed (and bear with me here, it's late and I don't feel like digging up the case law studies) to use anonymous statistics for the purposes of providing information to research groups. For instance, if my read is right, there's nothing to keep OnStar from selling the fact that several SOMEONES with a 2004 GTP Comp G drives down Highway X every day to a company that might be looking to put up a billboard catering to accessory needs for that kind of vehicle.

Think of how TiVo uses anonymous statistics. They knew that a billion majillion people stopped the super bowl last year to look at Janet's Wardrobe Malfunction. Did they know that *I* did? Nope. They know that A USER did.

I'm going to sleep now, but I hope this helps you! Personally, I'd just call OnStar myself and tell them that I don't want to be tracked under any circumstances unless I specifically give permission on a case-by-case basis and see where that gets you.
