My 99 tahoe just started giving my a security light message. Not all the time,it will come on while driving and not go out until i restart the truck. It has never caused the truck to stall while driving, but has before at a idle.I have a remote start system and i think it is causing the passlock to kick in. Sometimes my fuel pump won't kick in.Many times it won't start at all and it blowes my crank fuse. I replaced the starter thinking it was the problem, but the aftermarket does the same thing. Not very often maybe once a week or so,but after a few minutes it starts. Don't wanna get stranded somewhere. What is the best way to repair or bypass the passlock?Thanx for any advice!

Not knowing how the remote start is wired into your vehicle, it is going to be difficult to give you accurate information.
From what you are describing, you have a couple problems which may or may not be related to one failed componant.
First thing is to have the codes pulled from the passlock module and PCM to get an idea what circuit is affected. Since the light comes on while you are driving, the problem is in a circuit that is monitored. Passlock will not shut the truck off while you are driving but will cause a start/stall condition.
As far as the crank fuse blowing, this is cause by a high current flow through a circuit.
The stater on that truck is controlled by a relay, most likely the remote start is wired into the control side of the relay.
I would check to see if there is a wire shorted to ground or if you have a shorted relay.
The circuit from the fuse runs to the transmission range switch under the truck then back up to the relay..there are many places for a wire to rub through the insulation and touch ground.

Thanx Merlin, I'm gonna pull the codes this week. The crank fuse prob. is from the remote starter. It holds the starter for 2-3 secs., enough time for the high current to blow the fuse. I guess there is no way to bypass or disable the passlock is there? Is it a dealership problem or can it be fixed in my garage?
Thanx again for your help!

There's no way your RS should keep engaged for 2-3 seconds. What brand is it? I would have the place that installed it double check everything. If they see nothing wrong, have them disconnect it. Make sure they do this for the PK2 bypass. Many shops will take out the RS but not the bypass.
