ok lil back ground.

I have a 1996 dodge stratus, 2.4l 4 banger. I have no idea why, but every single year since i got it, it keeps frying my ignition coil. It starts with a miss here and there, when i try to accelerate it jerks, i change plugs, cables whole deal same untill i buy a new coil...it lasts about a year and same stuff all over again...whats up? is my voltage surging somwhere and frying the coil?

i live in central canada so it gets REALLY cold in winter...could a few hard starts do it?? ...just every damn year it goes...thanks! :eek7: :banghead: :banghead:

I've seen this before on a car that rolled through my shop one time; it turned out to be the PCM (powertrain control module) that wasn't grounding the primary circuit of the ignition system. That's a possibility that could be wrong with your car.
