help

I have a 95 Jimmy that won't start. It cranks but does not "want" to start. I'm guessing it's a fuel problem. Brand new Die Hard Battery. I've replaced the fuel filter. I see people refering to a CPI & Nut Set. Is this this the same as taking off the Vortec plate and looking under it? I have a Chilton book and it says to check the presure. Where do I hook up the gauge? Any recomndations?

The CPI and nut kit are under the upper plenum. Just removing the throttle vane is not the way to do it. Completely pull the upper plenum. Check for signs of washing (where one side is cleaner than the other.) If the passenger side is washed, you have a bad CPI, if the driver side is washed it's your nut kit.

To check the fuel pressure, attach the pressure gauge to the shrader valve on the fuel lines on the back of the plenum. It should read 56-60psi at start, 61-65 at running.

Can you stop having people rip off there whole upper plenum cover, who want to ip their engine apart twice and go through two upper plenum gaskets for one repair.

Removing the IMTV valve is a quick way to see if there is leaking without disabling your engine.

No, I won't stop telling people that. Unless you have a flexable scope to drop down the throttle vane, looking through it is inconclusive to determine washing. Even you should know this. Sheesh.. Do something, do it right...

According to the Haynes manual the fue pressure should be:

Key on, engine not running.........Approximately 58 to 64 psi
Engine running (at idle)..............Pressure should decrease by 3 to 10 psi

No need to have them take the whole top off the plenum.

If it is leaking, you will be able to easily see through the IMTV hole.
