Clear Distributor Cap...ITBs

I am needing a new dist. cap and I am pretty sure no one makes a clear one for a 4g. If they do I'd like to know where to get one. If they don't what are some tricks or 'upgrades' I can use instead. i.e. using a h series tb on a d series intake manifold. something like that. As I build my motor I wanna keep as many Honda parts on it as I can. Also, has anyone heard if ITBs off of a cbr1000rr or any honda streetbike work for an itb conversion.

Yeah im sure MSD makes one, but if you want to keep as many honda parts as possible why not just use OEM unless you have a upgraded ignition?

And yeah I've heard of people using throttle bodys off street bikes but you will have to fab up a plate for it and all.

Why do you want to run ITB's? what engine do you have? If you still have just a basic bolt on a6 or something, i would do something smaller first. ITB's believe it or not might not give you any gain in hp but a few more ft/lbs might be gained. The ports and duration of the stock cam dont allow too much air to flow. Start with a port and polish, a cam or something more internal than that if you really intend to build a motor.

Thanks for the info on the distributor. As for itbs, I have a d16a6. On a D16y sohc vtec itbs from a gixxer add, with proper tuning, about 40hp and maybe 10-15 ftlbs. Its not so much the hp I'm after but the power curve. I don't know if you've ever seen a dyno run on a sohc with itbs but the power curve is sick. I also like the look and sound of em. The gains are greater for dohc but that really doesnt matter. Plus I think it would be a fun project.

Sounds like a lot of work... go to homemadeturbo.com and read about the ITB fabrication in the articles section. Sounds like fun to have 4 butterflies flapping at once but sucking in hot air... IDK... If you want to increase the power curve of your d16 get some pulleys and cam. I've gotta get on the dyno someday...

It doesn't seem too bad. I've been reading up on it for a while. About them sucking hot air, I probably won't but you could put some nice velocity stacks on and have a functional hood scoop for a change. I don't think that it would make that much of a difference with the air being hot. Just imagine all the restriction a regular tb, plenum, and runners have rather than the air coming in the butterfly, traveling maybe 3in. and being in the cylinder. It will, however, murder gas mileage but my hatch isn't a daily driver so that doesn't matter too much. This is definately not a pipe dream so this summer it will get done. I'll be sure to post pics and once it's tuned some dyno runs.

most of the hot air goes under the car but you can just use large flexible pipes to route in cold air. thats how J's Racing CRX is.
