I have a 2000 honda accord coupe 5-speed. Sometimes when i'm driving the car won't let me go over 4000 rmp's it makes the car buck and it makes the needle go crazy.

does the car jerk? because the same thing happened to me and it turned out to be a safety thing that the VTEC does. For me the problem was caused by low oil levels (according to the dealer), which was causing my car to only rev up to 4500rpm, in which the car would jerk and the needle would go down a little then go back up etc..

that sounds like the same thing that mine does..... I will check the oil tommarow. Did yours only do it sometimes and other times it would run normal?

Make sure you have the proper amount of oil in the car. If your oil is low, VTEC will not engage and that could be the reason why your car won't go past 4500RPM's

Yeah it would do it only sometimes then I would have to turn the car off and then back on.
