i've heard mixed opinions on the HKS downpipe, some like it some don't but no one can seem to give me a definate answer why they dislike/like it, anyone else use HKS downpipes?

thanks

The HKS downpipe is frowned upon by many is because it isn't a bellmouth design. It will be just fine on the WRX if you have the stock turbo on the car but when you upgrade to an aftermarket turbo the bellmouth design on other downpipes comes into play and helps the wastegate function better, this being most aftermarket turbos have internal wastegates. Basically, it will be ok unless you decide to upgrade the turbo later on. Sorry if that made no sense, but yeah..... :screwy:

i bought my wrx from a friend about a week ago and i have a hks down pipe on my VF30 and the car seems to give great power at 3.5rpms to about 5 then after 5 it seems to give out like its being held back and the engine light flashes.. could this be the reason? im taking it down to be tuned again and looked at but im anxious to find out what it is.

usually when the CEL flashes it means theres a misfire or knock sensor recieving a signal but it sounds like your top end timing...if that makes sense...is off a little bit
but having tuned again would be a good plan
