stars

I know this is a dumb question and I am sure some of you will get a laugh out of this, but what are the stars behind a members name?

It's just AF's rating system. The more posts you add to www.automotiveforums.com the more stars fill up.
I'm not sure but, I'd say that you get a star for every 75-100 posts...

Im about to go over 1000 posts soon...I would have never thought I'd post that frickin much!!

im pretty sure you get a star for every time you double the post count.

example......

get one at 100....then 200....then 400...ect....

it may be when you double the posts (I don't have enough to have noticed yet), but I believe it starts at 50.

:sly: hmmmm, let's see . . . starting at 100 for the first star . . . double that for the second . . . (*calculator noises*) . . . and so on for 10 stars . . . (*more calculator noises*) . . . equals a grand total of . . . 51,200!!

I started paying attention to how many stars people have, and how many posts they have. slightly over 3,000 posts (maybe around 3,100?) was 10 stars, so I believe the stars are full at 3,000....

Lets get some more calculator noises going and see if we can't figure out how many each would be if you get one at 50, one at 100, and the limit is 3,000

1 star = 50 -100
2 stars=101-200
3 stars=201-500
4 stars=501-1000
5 stars=1001-2000
6 stars=2001-4000
7 stars=4001-8000
8 stars=8001-?

After that, the calculations break down and seem to imply the universe imploding into a black hole singularity. :eek7:

Thanks for the responses. I quess its never a dumb question if you don't know. I have really enjoyed reading the replies and learned a lot from this site. I would agree it is addicting.
