Sorry, you'd have to rewire the cluster for ones older than 97. The connectors are the same and the cluster will plug in, but everything goes crazy when you do because the wires are not the same. Sorry.

Hey mlw35405, I got my '97 replacement on E-Bay and realize this could lead to legal issues, but is there any way I can increase the mileage to match my car? I want to keep things legal and you seem to know a lot about this, otherwise I will have to take to dealer, don't know if they can do out of the car or not. If you know how to do this and don't want to publish it here, could you just PM me?

I'm not sure, but I think the speedometer heads are the same. Take the screws that hold the front of both the covers out, and just swap the speedo head of the new one with your old one. They just plug out and plug in after you have the cover off. Good luck! BTW, I think this is all Ford will do if you take it to them. The ODO is made into the speedo head, and there's no way to change it. On the older models, you could take a pick and turn the numbers (carefully) to match or whatever, but I don't think this works on the newer ones, but I wouldn't try it.
Also, federal law states that if you cannot reset the mileage on the new odometer, a decal must be placed on the drivers door sill stating the mileage of the old odometer when removed and the mileage of the new one installed. Also, when reassigning title of vehicle, "not actual miles" must be checked on the title. Of course, if you are able to swap the speedos, disregard this.

Thanks again mlw35405, I believe you are right and I think I saw it somewhere that you can just replace individual components of the cluster, never thought of that and it should save me a few bucks also. :iceslolan
