Swampers vs. Grabbers

I never thought it would be an interesting picture, but it is! I run my 15" grabbers M - F and put on the TSL 31" for the weekends. I bet I have 3" of difference from side to side! :D

Sorry if this has been asked before.
What offset are your rock crawlers.
I love the look of the rims but don't want the problems with the wrong offset.

I spaced out when I ordered my tire and wheels....so I have the wrong offset. ( I believe it is 4 3/4") About 90% of the time I have great clearance. I trimmed quite a lot out of the front fender well fore and aft. I haven't done anything in the rear wheel wells for clearance. I only get a rub in the rear if I go to fast through an obstacle. So to aleviate my problem I found someone on XOC who wants to part with all 5 of his stock 15" SE wheels nad Long Trail tires! I'll just swap the rims and put the swampers on the SE rims and sell the Rock Crawlers. The rock Crawlers are rugged but damned heavy!

I think that I might just have to follow what other people are thinking and paint a set of the steel rims black.
(Makes the Yellow look very cool!)

I do get compliments on how good they look together! BTW my friend ChuckH says he can hear the tires when I am 100 yds ahead of him on the highway!!! To me it sounds like a WWII bomber inside! ;)

How is the performance of the TSLs in snow and rain? I am looking for tires that will perform in mud/rocks as well as snow and rain since I live in Seattle and I like to go snowboarding. Most of the tire reviews seems to focus on mud and rocks. I'm also looking at the ever prevalent BFG MT or AT, as well as the Super Swamper SSRs and now the TruXus tires.

MudPhud, they performed real well in the snow in Snoqualmie this spring. But for rain they don't have enough of a contact surface at full inflation to be a good rain tire. I'd advise the the BFGoodrich MT's for the majority of off-road stuff we do. I have the luxury of a compressor at home to swap out on the weekends we do Xcursions. So the Grabbers do 95% of the time.

You think BFG MT's are better than your TSLs or only if one plans on using them for both off and on road driving? I was thinking of getting a separate set of wheels for my off road tires so I could swap them on and off like you do.

Also, does one really need a compressor to swap the wheels or can it be done by hand with a lug wrench? Maybe I could buy you some beer and swing by your place when I need to swap my wheels. I'm in Tacoma on most weekends anyways :D

Actually this fall I plan to purchase some BFGoodrich MT's for summer offroading, have the Swampers for mud/snow and the Grabbers for all the highway commuting. You saw how well everyone did on the funnyrocks with AT's and MT"S and even street tires!!!....the swampers were slipping more than anything. We should ask guys like Schlud, Philospher, Warmonger, and Ian Firth and there cronies what there opinions are!

But hey I can be convinced for beer to change tires! :hehe:

I think having 3 sets of tires to swap on and off is a bit much, but to each his own. :)

Yeah, and when you passed me on I-90, it sounded really cool! It was like "buzzz, whaaaaaWHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAwhhhhhhhbuzzzzz" or something! :D

When I head to work on Mondays I feel like something is wrong? Where is the humming and rumbling I am used to? Why is the Stereo up so loud now? How come I can actually here the engine? Noooooo.....Swampers! I need a rack on top with a Swamper spare on top. My truck just looks so plain without the Swampers! Funny to see people just pointing an staring when I have to run around town with them on! :D
