I am looking to get a new system for my car. I love the bose system but I want more bass. What do I have to do in order to have a new system.....do I need to replace all the speakers, deck, and sub?

I added a 10" Polk sub and 250W sony mono amp. Simplest install you could imagine. Used the existing wires that run to the crappy stock sub, and no holes to drill for the power lines to the battery b/c it's under the rear seat. You would be amazed at how $200 worth of bass makes the whole system sound 100 times better.......

That polk sub system possibly puts out more bass. If your concerned about space the infinity is awesome.

I have it in a truck box, had all intentions of cutting out the huge plastic enclosure they have for the stock sub and place it there, but it hasn't happened yet. Not looking to rattle the neighbors windows, just add overall sound to the system. Paid about the same as the powered sub, box and sub $100 from Circuit City, amp for $65 on e-bay from sears clearance......added some rims on e-bay for $350, and got a nice little customized aurora..........

this is so strange, I went to circuit city with this problem and they said I have to change EVERY speaker, if I wanted to add another sub to my bose

would I need a more power amp? or a hi-lo converter?

They are right. In order to use new speakers with the existing BOSE amps, you need a converter, b/c the BOSE amps and speakers work on a different OHM rating. I put in a whole new sub and amp, so I didn't have to worry about OHM ratings and left the stock (non sub) speakers. Try that out 1st, I'm sure you will be impressed with the new sound. If you need better from there, it will require much more work and cash.........

I have a system in my Aurora.

I have a nice Kenwood Excelon MP3 head unit. I re-wired all the Bose speakers to be powered by my head unit (boy was this fun). For subs, having the battery in the back is a great help :-P. I have 2 12'' Rockford Fostage's HE2 Powered by a 750Watt Bazooka Amp in a custom bandpass box. I think it sounds great, not competition or anything but it's good. The bose speakers sound great powered by my head unit. Cutting out that big bose stock sub was fun as well.

Yep, you sure can. You just have to know what you are doing. Unfortunately, most chain stores only know what they are told. They messed up the wiring in this Z28 a while back to the point nothing sounded good. They did about the same thing with this Eclipse. I am not surprised they said it could not be done...by them :banghead:
