EGR question...

Is it possible for me to unscrew the passage for the EGR valve in order to clean it out? I mean, is it like a little metal tube that can just unscrew at both ends? Also, would I need to remove the EGR valve to get it off? I'm really afraid of getting crud in the intake. I wanna clean the EGR stuff all out without a high risk of moving the mess into the engine and creating HUGE problems. I already cleaned the EGR valve itself.
Hey, here's a tip for the EGR valve, get your drill and put a little hex or whatever thingy it's called that fits that little thingy in the center of the pintle. Get some sand paper and get it pushed in partway. Push the pintle down with the tip of the drill and establish contact between the edges of the pintle and the sandpaper. Hit the trigger for a few seconds to spin the pintle's edge against the sandpaper and make sure you get all up and down the edge. When you're done, the pintle will look all shiny and there will be no more carbon stuck to it.
I think I came up with a really good method for cleaning that pesky little pintle. Also try to do the same to the shaft of the pintle, that'll probably help too.
