Hello, my question is was there a 1969 Chevy Chevelle malibu ss? Because my cousin has one, but I can't find any pictures of another one online... I'm starting to think its a clone of some sort... any input?
(By the way I'm a MOPAR man myself, so i don't know nothing about Chevys)

Yes, my best friend has a Fathom green 69 Chevelle SS 396 in his garage, (sitting next to his 72 LT-1 Corvette!)

"Chevelle SS" is an independent model from "Malibu" in '69. I've heard stories of some Malibus getting out with SS packages, but have seen only pictures, and no actual cars or documentation.

I am sorry I mis-interpreted your question. I have to agree with mrPbody in saying that a Chevelle/Malibu SS in 69 would be a stretch. On the side way back in the 80's I remember seeing a 72 Chevelle/Malibu running around with what the owner said was a "factory 454". I have never heard of anything like this before and maybe some of you out there have seen something like this before. The guy never had any documentation as such, but the car certainly looked kosher. -My friends car is a Chevelle SS and not a Chevelle/Malibu like you stated. good luck

Hope this makes sense. Yes to your question did Chevrolet make a Chevelle/ Malibu SS. For 1969, SS 396 equipment became an options package, RPO Z25. Along with being offered for the Malibu hardtop and convertable, RPO Z25 could be ordered on either of the low-priced 300 Deluxe modles, hardtop and sedan. Including the sedan's B-pillar "post", the 300 Deluxe heritage of this 1969 SS 396 also mandated the inclusion of vent windows, items deleted from Malibu models after 1968. There are no available production breakdowns for the odd post-sedan 1969 SS 396, but the cars are rarely seen. 1969 was the only year this combination was available.
If your cousin has one of these it's rare!!!!

Thanks for the great information, molhannah. This would be a great piece to own indeed. By the way I said my friends car was Fathom green, but he told me that it is Sequoia green instead, (pretty rare color).

there were a select few malibus that were ordered with parts of the ss packaging like 325 bhp "396" I know of atleast one owned by a car club buddy but I have yet to see any paper work on it so I think it might be at sometime before he bought the car the previous owner stuffed in a "factory" 396
