2G engine/ performance

I have a few questions about the 2nd generation Eclipses, more scecifically the GSX. I dont have one now, but am plannin on getting one as soon as my little brother wants to buy my car (2001 Cavalier). I was wondering if there are any common problems to the 4g63 engine itself, the GSX drivetrain, and overall craftsmanship of the GSX's? About how many miles can they get before they start to break down? What is crankwalk and how can it be fixed/avoided? I also noticed in a couple magazine articles on Evo 8's that they also have a 4g63. Is it the same engine? Whats the deal there? Thanks for your help.

Yeah definately do the search...there are a lot of problems with the typical DSM. But as said in another thread on here...they are performance cars and cars designed for performance will automatically require more maintainence. so, just do a search and if you have more specific questions just ask.
