84 stang...good deal?

I found a 84 Mustang LX for sale. Orig. it came with the V6 motor in it. He got a 302 V8 out of the junkyard from a pickup and put it in there now.
New parts:
Thicker all metal radiotor for H.O. mustang
Radiator fan
Altanator
Starter
battery
heads
H.O. mustang 5.0 cam
dubble barr. carb.
pulleys all look new also

It kept dieing when idleing. So he put I fuel pressure regulator on it while I was there and it started idleing at about 1.5k, but when put it into drive and let idle it would die. Maybe timing off? Anyways he was asking $1500 for it, but said he would take $1200. Does this sound like a good deal.

For $1200 it's still not worth it because back then mustangs were cheaply made. But why wouldn't you just put that money into your current projects??? Aren't you building a turbo y8 for a hatch and isn't your mom buying you a new car?

Well my mom was going to buy me a new car. But I couldn't find anything I wanted that I really liked new. So instead she is just going to give me the 15k and let me buy whatever I want. Used, new, invest, whatever....

As far as the turbo Y8 that project is still in effect. The motor is going in Sat. so the turbo won't be going on till maybe summer. Now I am thinking of a SC though.....not sure yet. Might just go with Nitrous sense it's 10.5:1 c/r

P.S. If I find a good rex I know what my next car shall be. I love the rex...or maybe even a del slo. Can't seem to find either here for under $4k (and thats in bad condition)

You must have a built y8 cuz cr is 9.6:1 stock.... yah, turbo would have to be low boost... but you could get boost controller and adjust.... can't do that with SC (for d)...

Yeah the Y8 is kinda built. Suppose to be going in Sat. It consist of:

*97 Y8 bored .020 over wirh JE 10.5:1 c/r pistons and eagle rods
*Y8 port and polished head with over sized valves
*Akimoto racing sport short ram
*DC 4-2-1 header
* XTD stage 2 clutch
*"new" Si tranny
*Moroso plug wires
*MSD external coil
*Full header back 2 1/2" exhaust
*PM6 chipped with SOHC Vtec map from PGFI.org
* SOON: Delta 272 cam and Skunk2 mani

Should be a pretty solid motor. Once it gets broke in I will decide if I go SC, turbo, or nitrous. I love turbo, but then again nitrous is so much easier and cheaper. 75-100 shot of nitrous and it should move. We'll see when the time comes though.

Shes giving me that much out of the insurance money. My dad passed away Dec. 20th so she wants me to have something decent to drive. Shes also paying for my full college.

Thanks..Yeah really sucks. I learned eveything I know about cars from him. He always was a V8 guy and didn't think 4cyl could put out as much power. I wish I could have had my car finished so bad. I wanted to take him for a ride and show him what these little 4cyl can do.

Sorry to hear that bro... but if you want a v8 get a old Trans-Am or Camero... Old fords are so horrendous.

Yeah I really don't like Fords, but it sounded like a good deal. I want to find a old Camaro or Nova and put a 454 in it. Then try to fab up a turbo kit for it. 454 with about 12 pounds of boost from a T4....ummmm
